NHS Mediation Service
CEDR acts as one of three dispute resolution bodies appointed by NHS Resolution to provide independent mediation services to the NHS for clinical negligence and personal injury cases.
CEDR is able to facilitate all mediations online or by telephone. Please see our 'Client Guide to Online Mediations' here. Further information can be found on this page.
About the scheme
The National Health Service Mediation Scheme follows a successful pilot operated by CEDR in 2014/15 that proved mediation is an effective way of resolving disputes between patients and the NHS.
This service offers those parties involved in disputes, which are often highly emotive and have a large personal impact, the opportunity to have their dispute resolved in a way which allows for discussion of the impact felt by individuals in their lives and a settlement which can include more than just financial compensation.
Process
For more information on the process used in clinical negligence and personal injury liability mediation see the Resources tab below.
Parties can book a mediator, request a recommendation for a mediator, or request assistance in setting-up the mediation process by calling one of our experienced advisors on 020 7536 6060 or emailing adr@cedr.com

CEDR developed a specialist mediator panel for this service. Mediators are drawn from a range of backgrounds and are all accredited by CEDR and approved by NHS Resolution.
Having been involved in mediating these cases since the beginning of this service, our mediators have collectively mediated hundreds of medical negligence cases. CEDR will allocate mediators according to their suitability for each case from the following list:
