CEDR accreditation is the first step toward becoming a CEDR Panel Mediator.  CEDR is always on the lookout for talented CEDR accredited mediators to join our:

  • Mediator Development Programme – promising CEDR accredited mediators who receive career development support through a process of observations, early experience, and mentoring before considering them for the CEDR Panel.
  • Mediator Panel – experienced mediators who work closely with CEDR to provide high quality service as mediators and facilitators.

Each year CEDR invite 2-3 candidates to join the Mediator Development Programme.  More information on the CEDR Mediator Development Programme can be found here.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • CEDR Accreditation
    • All CEDR Mediators have successfully completed either:
      • The CEDR Commercial Mediator Skills Training; or
      • The CEDR Employment and Workplace Mediator Skills Training.
  • Mediation Experience and Civil Mediation Council Requirements:
    • Conducted or observed at least 2 mediations; and
    • Undertaken at least 6 hours of mediation-specific CPD every 12 months.
  • Insurance
    • Covered with a Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least £1M.

We want to ensure that our clients receive the best service for the resolution of their disputes. Therefore, we work hard to ensure that mediators appointed to a CEDR Panel are of the highest quality, complying with the following requirements:

    • Undertaken at least 6 hours of mediation-specific CPD every 12 months.

    • Covered with a Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least £1M.

It is crucial our mediators are representative of the parties they provide mediations to, and that our clients can select from a diverse panel. We are committed to continuing to develop diversity within our panel, with a goal to have our panel representative of the general population in terms of age, gender and ethnicity by 2025.

Application Process & Timings for both the Panel and the Mediator Development Programme

Step 1:
Apply using the form above with an accompanying CV by 2 August 2024.  Ensure that you meet the requirements set out above. 

Step 2:
All applications are reviewed by the Mediator Development Manager and the Director of Commercial Disputes for mediation experience and panel suitability based on client needs.

Step 3:
Invitations for interview are extended to a select number of successful candidates no later than 30 August 2024.

Step 4:
Invitations to join either the Panel or the Mediator Development Programme are extended to successful candidates no later than 4 October 2024.

Step 5:
Accepted mediators go through an onboarding process which includes a mentored first mediation.

Applications received after 2 August 2024 will be considered for the 2024 Panel application process.
